ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate how the satisfaction of the elderly is changing with the welfare system and service extension of the elderly and the change of the determinants of life satisfaction. The Korean Welfare Panel was used from the first (2005) to the eleventh (2015) longitudinal data. The influence of life satisfaction factors on Chow test we verified that there is a difference. As a result, the life satisfaction of the elderly showed an increase of 17.8% from 2.86 in 2005 to 3.37 in 2015. Poverty, education, and region were the determinants of life satisfaction, and the Chow test showed that their influence was significantly reduced. These results suggest that the quality of life of the elderly is continuously improved by the expansion of the welfare infrastructure of the elderly, and that the degree of life satisfaction and regional disparity are reduced. Based on the results of this study, we discussed how to improve the life satisfaction of the elderly.
