ABSTRACT

This research aims to assess the University of Dhaka's cloud computing readiness, identify challenges in implementing cloud computing, and examine the benefits and limitations of cloud computing as perceived by stakeholders. The research methodology employed in this study is quantitative research. Data were obtained from randomly selected students at Dhaka University through a structured data collection form that includes both closed- and open-ended questions. Inferential statistics, including correlation and regression analysis, are conducted using IBM SPSS. The results show a moderate level of awareness and a positive attitude towards cloud computing. The most important factors in the adoption of cloud computing were found to be security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. The most important barriers were found to be a lack of technical knowledge, cost factors, and infrastructure. There is a statistically significant relationship between benefit perception and cloud adoption. The purpose of this research is to conduct the first empirical study on cloud computing readiness at Dhaka University and to shed light on this topic, which will have important implications for policymakers and administrative authorities of universities interested in the process of digital transformation in higher education in Bangladesh. The results show that the University of Dhaka is conceptually ready to implement cloud computing, but in terms of infrastructure and human resources (ability), they are facing serious challenges.
