ABSTRACT
The thermal performance of a building envelope is one of the key factors that affect a building’s energy consumption. However, the thermal performance is evaluated manually, which requires a great deal of time and results in low reliability. The aim of this study is to use IFC-BIM to evaluate the thermal performance of the building envelope automatically. First, through literature review, the challenges that might arise when using IFC-BIM were analyzed in order to evaluate the thermal performance of a building envelope. Second, framework for automated evaluation of the envelope thermal performance was proposed by extracting relevant information from IFC-BIM. In future research, a case study should be performed on a house unit to verify the accuracy of the proposed framework.
