Factors Affecting Judgment for Continuing Hospitalization of People with Mental Illness

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors influencing the decision to discharge from judgement for continuing hospitalization in order to provide implications for the establishment of health policy related to mental illness and to provide basic data for helping the return of people with mental illness. The study subjects were 259 patients who requested a judgment for continuing hospitalization of the Basic Mental Health Examination Committee. The results of the study showed that factors affecting the decision to discharge were the total number of hospitalizations(p=.006), possibility of self-harm and harm(p<.001), bizarre behavior and regression(p<.001).
