Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study is to analyze factors affecting couple satisfaction among married women from dual-income families with children. As the nuclear family has become the norm after structural changes in the modern family, and the rate of female economic activities has increased, women are faced with managing a dual labor role at home and in the labor market. For the purpose of examining factors affecting couple satisfaction among married women from dual-income families with children, in relation to the family structure and the increasing burden of labor on women, factors related to couple satisfaction among the variables surveyed in the 5thKorean Longitudinal Survey of Women & Family (KLoWF) were analyzed. The study represented the responses from a total sample size of 919 married women from dual-income families with children. The couple satisfaction-related variables were analyzed in terms of personal and family-related factors as well as the conjugal relationship. The SPSS 22.0 program was used to conduct the frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis and regression analysis, and the results can be summarized as follows. The couple satisfaction was higher among those at a younger age and with a higher number of children, a higher level of education, better health conditions, less time spent on domestic labor, and a higher satisfaction with the husband’s support. Based on these results, this study provides a discussion and the implications regarding how satisfaction within the conjugal relationship can be increased.
